Economic Institute

The Institute of the Faculty of Economics conducts scientific research and development in the field of economics. It is especially dedicated to conducting empirical research in order to understand better the economy of the Republic of Srpska and to identify measures of economic policy that may affect the growth and development of economy. The research team of the Institute is composed of all teachers and associates of the Faculty of Economics. The Institute together with the Faculty of Economics has cooperation with a number of researchers in the country and abroad, and it maintains good relations with the business community. Our research interests and organization are changing in accordance with the times and requirements. Upon the adoption of the new legislation on scientific research, the reorganization of the Institute is expected. Topics that currently occupy our interests the most are innovation and technological development, investment in human capital, demographic changes, poverty, unemployment and social insecurity, fiscal decentralization, sustainable development, regional policy as well as the economic aspects of accession to the European Union.

 

The scientific research work of professors, assistants and associates was performed mostly through the Institute of the Faculty of Economics. The Institute of the Faculty of Economics, as an organizational unit of the Faculty of Economics, was established in 1987. The Institute operates as an independent legal entity since January 2001 under the name of Institute of Economic Sciences.

 

The main activities of the Institute are:

- Scientific-research activities 

- Training of professors and associates,

- Informal ways of training of personnel in business and non-economic activities (through seminars and other forms of training).

 

Development of projects and studies based on modern methods of research and analysis, as well as consulting activities and staff training. Team work in the implementation of activities through international and inter-university cooperation and in the form of individual work of our researchers.

 

Researchers at the Institute are PhDs, masters and other associates at the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka and other researchers depending on the needs of research. The technical capacity of the Institute consists of the available computer and other equipment. Its work is followed by the technical department of the Faculty.
